Leftist Candidate in Contention for Honduran Presidency

The Libre Party's candidate, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, was running neck-and-neck in pre-election polls with National Party candidate Juan Orlando Hernández—the first time an openly leftist party is in serious contention for the presidency since the country returned to democracy in 1980.
